Sup4Nav among Europen SME Instrument Champions at SMM

Sup4Nav, our spin-out company, has been chosen to be one of the European SME Instrument Champions! Come to meet them in Hamburg at 8th September 5:15 pm during biggest trade fair for maritime industry – SMM Hamburg.

Those companies were selected for funding out of the tough competition of applicants for EU Programme for Research and Innovation. Cooperating with them and investing on them could be a good deal as they already passed a hard competition and they may become the next innovation leaders!

Sup4Nav aims to offer best support for navigation. Their project NAVDEC focuses on an innovative marine navigation system, using modern IT and ICT technologies to perform decision support functions by processing and integrating data from other navigation information systems to assess the situation and work out solutions to avoid collisions at sea. The system has already been installed on several vessels and the company would like to reach further clients and distributors on maritime market to scale up their business.

MUS Innovation Centre will also take part in SMM Hamburg. You can meet us there from 7th till 8th September.

Another expertise’s, research and trainings

Recent weeks have brought us another interesting projects and use of scientific thought in practice.

We took part in the tender for the “Purchase of expert services consisting in the assessment of applications for the design platform pad for new ideas – Hub of Talent”. Our experts have evaluated ideas for business activity in the field of physics / geodesy and cartography and in the field of medical science.

We have done expertise related to the implementation of the project in ROP 2007-2013 for Mazovian Unit of EU Programmes Implementation in Warsaw. Our expert has prepared factual elaboration. Now Mazovian Unit of EU Programmes Implementation may take a crucial decision about its beneficiary. The project aimed to purchase of innovative machines and technical facilities for an SME.

We have done research related to testing the effectiveness of the functioning of the components of the propulsion system for Polish shipowner. Our experts personally conducted research and tests.

We have developed the energy consumption analysis and the opinion related to a schedule and scope of conducting certification of energy efficiency for Espersen Polska Sp. o.o., (Espersen Polska Sp. z o.o. is a large company from the West Pomeranian Voivodeship).

We also organized professional training on “Construction machinery and equipment” for a dozen employees from Ecol Sp. o.o. (Rybnik). Training was organized on Maritime University and its equipment.

We were also elected as an Operator of The Fuel Research, Hydraulic Fluids and Environmental Protection Centre. This is a brand new laboratory. It provides services in respect of researching kerosene products, hydraulic fluids and environmental protection based on state-of-the-art laboratory equipment and research methods. In accordance with the current standards we are able to conduct research of lubricating oils – engine and transmission oils, hydraulic oils, naval fuels, water quality and morphology of liquids and dusts.

MUSIC can also take part in EU projects. Thanks to years of contacts in this area, we have joined the project “Easily Distributed Personal Rapid Transit 2 go” under the INTERREG South Baltic. City of Swinoujscie is a project leader. The aim of the project is very interesting, it’s about implementing electric vehicles in Swinoujscie.

Currently, we are negotiating part in very interesting projects for science and business, including wind energy branch and the implementation of one of the inventions of Maritime University of Szczecin.

We will manage The Fuel Research, Hydraulic Fluids and Environmental Protection Centre

On 23rd March an agreement was signed between Maritime University of Szczecin, represented by the Rector Prof. DSc. PhD. Eng. Master Mariner Stanisław Gucma and MUS Innovation Centre SPV, represented by the CEO Konrad Frontczak. MUS IC will be responsible for commercial services carried out in the Fuel Research, Hydraulic Fluids and Environmental Protection Centre.slide_2

The Laboratory provides services in respect of researching kerosene products, hydraulic fluids and environmental protection based on state-of-the-art laboratory equipment and research methods. In accordance with the current standards we conduct research of lubricating oils – engine and transmission oils, hydraulic oils, naval fuels, water quality and morphology of liquids and dusts.

The Laboratory allows to use its potential for performance of complex study in respect of:

  • Hydraulic oils in any use – full scope of study (physical and chemical properties, quality, purity, usability for further operation);
  • Lubricating oils – full scope of usage study (physical and chemical properties, including lubricity, quality, purity, usability for further operation, variation monitoring);
  • Transformer oils (physical and chemical properties, quality, purity, usability for further operation);
  • Fuels for automatic-ignition engines naval, automobile, traction (analysis of quality, composition, morphology, pollution, dusting quality, physical and chemical properties, operation advisory);
  • Study for natural environment protection;
  • Water pollution with petroleum-derivative substances – gas chromatography;
  • Analysis of exhaust gases in industrial power facilities – full scope.

Based on analysis of study results we give out recommendations and guidelines in respect of operation of devices.

We completed another expertises and R&D works

DSC06416Recently MUS Innovation Centre has completed a lot of different types of experties and R&D solutions, both for institutional clients, as well as commercial. The implementation of this type of work is an important part of our business, and allows us to plan further cooperation with companies and municipalities.

For a company from South Poland we have realized ambitious work involving the estimation of the invention for the maritime industry related to the innovative method of obtaining wave energy. We had to built a team of experts consisting of scientists of several universities and representatives of commercial companies, both Polish and foreign (total of eight people). Scientists used Laboratory of Risk Analysis.

For Szczecin and Swinoujscie Seaports Authority SA we have done work related to the analysis of the risks of exploitation the containers on the Nord Stream gas pipeline and we have defined the specifications of the northern approach fairway to the port of Swinoujscie, estimating the cost of the solution.

We have worked with the Ministry of maritime economy and inland navigation, involving the analysis of the social, financial and legal implementation into Polish law the provisions of Council Directive 2014/112 / EU concerning certain aspects of the organization of working time on inland waterways.

We have done expertise for an international chemical company on improving the efficiency of its production processes and logistics, mapping its current state and indicating areas for optimization.

We have also qualification to perform research and analysis “insurance”, we have performed an analysis of defective bolts and the fuel hose on one of the ships.

Currently, we are negotiating further expert works and R&D with companies from the area of the West Pomeranian region and the rest of Poland.
